ASTM A105 covers forged carbon steel flanges and piping components for ambient and high temperature service in pressure systems. It also includes fittings, valves and similar parts. The maximum weight of manufactured forgings to which this standard follows is 10,000 circles (4,540kg). Larger forgings can be made in accordance with Standard A 266/A266M. This specification does not cover tube sheets and hollow cylindrical forgings for pressure vessel shells.
