Stainless steel must contain at least 10.5% chromium. Depending on the grade, it may contain higher chromium content, as well as additional alloying components such as molybdenum, nickel, titanium, aluminum, copper, nitrogen, phosphorus or selenium. Type 304 stainless steel is an austenitic grade that can be heavily deep drawn. This characteristic has resulted in 304 being the primary grade used in applications such as sinks and pans.
