304 prefabrication of Pipe Spools the most common stainless steel
The high amounts of nickel and chromium in austenitic stainless steels provide excellent mechanical properties, as well as excellent corrosion resistance.
Multi-austenitic stainless steels are weldable and formable. The two more commonly used austenitic stainless steel grades are the 304 and 316 grades. All steels have the same basic iron and carbon composition, but stainless steel also contains a moderate amount of chromium – an alloy that gives stainless steel its famous corrosion resistance. Type 304 is the most versatile and versatile stainless steel. It is still sometimes referred to by its old name, 18/8, which derives from the nominal composition Type 304 being 18% chromium and 8% nickel.
