304 spectacle blind used to connect pumps
Flanges are usually welded or threaded. Flange joints are made by bolting two flanges together with a gasket between them to provide a seal.
The balanced austenitic structure of grade 304 enables deep drawing without intermediate annealing, which makes this grade dominant in the manufacture of drawn stainless steel parts such as sinks, hollowware, and pans. The minimum yield strength of 304 stainless steel flange is 215MPa, and the minimum tensile strength is 505MPa. Stainless steel 304 flanges, also known as grade 18-8, are higher in chromium and lower in carbon. The low carbon content of this alloy limits the formation of carbide precipitates during welding and also makes 304 stainless steel flanges less susceptible to intergranular corrosion.
