UNS S31600, which is often referred to as marine grade stainless steel offers much better mechanical and corrosion resistance properties in comparison to austenitic stainless steel alloy 304. Similar to alloy 304, the Stainless Steel 316 Pipe Fittings belong to the austenitic family of stainless steels. Although it is known as a chromium-nickel stainless steel alloy, this molybdenum bearing alloy grade imparts good pitting resistance to the fitting in comparison to regular stainless steel and carbon or alloy steel grade fittings.
The Stainless Steel 316 material is austenitic stainless steel with chromium, nickel, and added molybdenum in its chemical composition. Due to the added molybdenum in the Stainless Steel 316 Pipe Fittings , they have better corrosion resisting properties.
