For high temperature applications, the high carbon variant 316H stainless steel and the stabilized grade 316Ti stainless steel should be used.
Stainless steel¡ªespecially the 300 series formulations¡ªis a popular choice for a variety of plumbing applications. Most commonly used are 304, 316 and 316L stainless steel formulations. They have the right combination of strength, weldability, corrosion resistance and economical cost.
316 stainless steel has a similar chemical composition to 304, but also contains molybdenum. This addition makes it more resistant to corrosion. Like 304, the 316 formulation does not require post weld annealing.
