Alloy 347 stainless steel plate can be easily welded and machined by standard shop fabrication practices. It also has good low temperature toughness and is non-magnetic in the annealed state. Niobium-tantalum carbides are precipitated within grains rather than formed at grain boundaries. Type 347 should be considered for applications requiring intermittent heating between 800?F (427?C) and 1650?F (899?C), or welding in conditions that prevent post-weld annealing.
