AL6XN prefabricated piping systems resistance to crevice corrosion
AL6XN has greater tensile strength than common austentitic stainlesses, while retaining high ductility and impact strength.
It is an austenitic stainless steel alloy with high nickel (24%), chromium (22%), molybdenum (6%) and nitrogen (0.18%) contents, commonly known as super austenitic stainless steel (alloys such as 254 SMO (UNS ) S31254) and 904L (UNS N08904) also fall under the super austenitic designation), while 2205 (UNS S32305/S31803) and 2507 (UNS S32750) are duplex and super duplex stainless steels, respectively. Known as a “super austenitic” stainless steel, this alloy combines high strength and good machinability with excellent corrosion and pitting resistance to a wide variety of media. Alloy AL6XN is an extremely strong nickel-molybdenum alloy with many beneficial properties, including excellent resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion in chloride solutions.
