HASTELLOY C-4 alloy (UNS N06455) is the most (microstructurally) stable of the widely
used nickel-chromium-molybdenum materials, which are well known for their resistance
to many aggressive chemicals, in particular hydrochloric acid, sulfuric acid, and chlorides. This alloy resists the formation of grain-boundary precipitates in the weld heat-affected zone, thus making it suitable for most chemical process applications in the as-welded condition.

Welding of this alloy is similar to that of the C-22 alloy. Gas tungsten arc welding (GTAW) and shielded metal arc welding (SMAW) are commonly used to weld C-276 alloys.

It is recommended that the alloy be welded in the solution annealed condition with C-276 filler metal.

NAS NW276 is a Ni Cr Mo alloy with excellent corrosion resistance in both oxidizing and reducing atmospheres. In this alloy, carbide precipitation in the heat affected zone (HAZ) is suppressed and corrosion resistance is improved by reducing the contents of C and Si.

Hastelloy C276 alloy is a nickel-molybdenum-chromium wrought alloy that is considered a “multifunctional corrosion-resistant alloy”. Hastelloy C276 alloy has excellent corrosion resistance to both oxidizing and reducing media and excellent resistance to localized corrosion attack. The material also contains cobalt, tungsten, iron, silicon, manganese, carbon and vanadium in its composition.
