Alloy 20 (Alloy 20) is an iron-based austenitic alloy developed to resist sulfuric acid corrosion. All chrome molybdenum steel sheets are sedated and heat treated in accordance with ASTM A387, which also specifies minimum and maximum levels of the following elements in steel: Chemicals of Carbon, Manganese, Phosphorus, Sulfur, Silicon, Chromium, Molybdenum, Nickel, Vanadium requirements, columbium, boron, nitrogen, aluminum, titanium and zirconium. A387 boards must undergo product, chemical and tensile testing (documented in the MTC or material test certificate) – must meet specific requirements for tensile strength, yield strength and elongation.

A182 alloy flange has good dimensional accuracy.

The key to the P5 composition of chromium-molybdenum alloys is the addition of chromium and molybdenum. Chromium or chromium increases high temperature strength, increases oxidation resistance and increases tensile, yield and hardness at room temperature. Molybdenum improves strength, elastic limit, wear resistance, impact quality and hardenability. It increases resistance to softening, inhibits grain growth, and makes chrome steel less susceptible to embrittlement. Molybdenum is also the most effective additive for increasing high temperature creep strength or creep resistance. It also enhances the corrosion resistance of the steel and inhibits pitting corrosion.

Due to the chemical composition of Molybdenum (Mo) and Chromium (Cr), A335 is often referred to as Chromium Molybdenum Tube. Molybdenum increases the strength of the steel as well as the elastic limit, wear resistance, impact quality and hardenability. Molybdenum increases resistance to softening, inhibits grain growth, and makes chromium steel less susceptible to embrittlement. Molybdenum is the most effective single additive for improving high temperature creep strength. It also enhances the corrosion resistance of the steel and inhibits pitting corrosion. Chromium (or chrome) is the basic component of stainless steel. Any steel with 12% or more chromium is considered stainless steel. Chromium is almost irreplaceable in terms of resistance to oxidation at high temperatures. Chromium increases tensile, yield and hardness at room temperature.
