Nickel. The heavy nickel content in Inconel alloys is one of the main sources of the magnetic properties of the alloys. Pure nickel is magnetic, even at room temperature, but is combined with elements such as chromium and carbon when making Inconel alloys.
INCOLOY alloy 800 (UNS N08800/W. Nr. 1.4876) is a widely used material for construction of equipment requiring corrosion resistance, heat resistance, strength, and stability for service up to 1500¡ãF (816¡ãC).INCOLOY alloys belong to the category of super austenitic stainless steels. These alloys have nickel-chromium-iron as the base metals, with additives such as molybdenum, copper, nitrogen and silicon.
The ASTM B407 UNS N08800 seamless pipes are manufactured using a variety of processes such as hot-finished or cold-drawn. In the hot-finished process, the temperature of the material is raised above the recrystallization temperature before being worked. The cold-drawn process involves reducing the diameter of the material by drawing it through a die at room temperature.
