ASTM A333 GR.6 seamless steel pipe Carbon Steel ASTM A333 ERW pipe

The ASTM A333 Grade 6 low alloy steel seamless pipes are intended for low temperature services with minimum design temperature -45°C [-50°F] requiring notch toughness. They are usually furnished in nominal pipe size (NPS) and nominal wall thickness with schedule numbers in accordance with ASME B36.10M.

ASME SA 333 GR 6 Seamless Pipe, ASTM A333 Grade 6 Welded Pipe Specification

ASTM A333 covers nominal (average) wall seamless and welded carbon and alloy steel pipe intended for use at low temperatures. Several grades of ferritic steel are included. Some product sizes may not be available under this specification because heavier wall thicknesses have an adverse affect on low-temperature impact properties.

ASTM A333 Grade 6 Pipe is a carbon steel pipe that comes under ASTM, ASME and API standards. There are grades 1 through 11 in the pipe series and the sizes range from ½ inches to 36 inches. The wall thickness of the pipes range from 3mm to 12mm and the ASME SA 333 GR 6 Seamless Pipe come under different schedules such as sch40, sch80 and up to XXS including all schedules.

The cold drawn and cold rolled pipe types are available. There are seamless, welded, ERW and fabricated pipes. The ASTM A333 Grade 6 Seamless Pipes are drawn from a single billet of the material whereas the ASTM A333 Grade 6 Welded Pipe Specification mandates it be welded from a strip or sheet of the same material grade. The form of the pipes can vary as round or hydraulic in most cases.

These carbon steel A333 Grade 6 pipes are used in the transportation of oil and gases in long pipe lines. The Carbon Steel ASTM A333 ERW Pipe is strong with 415MPa minimum tensile strength and 240MPa minimum yield strength. The material is used for its extended toughness and wear resistance. The carbon steel A333 Grade 6 pipe provides the mechanical properties necessary for line pipes. The ASTM A333 Carbon Steel GR.6 Square Pipe is also available but is used under different circumstances. The ASTM A333 Grade 6 square pipes have high strength due to the geometric shape. There are also other types such as the CS A333 GR 6 Hexagonal Pipe. Please contact us for more product information and pricing.

*For each reduction of 0.01% carbon below 0.30%, an increase of 0.05% manganese above 1.06% would be permitted to maximum of 1.35% manganese.

In terms of the influence on low temperature impact toughness, phosphorus (P) is the most detrimental element among C, Si, P, Si and N to the Charpy toughness of ASTM A333 Gr.6. Their amount shall be reduced to the smallest. Manganese, as well as the addition of small traces of nickel, vanadium, copper and niobium, can significantly reduce the critical brittle-ductile transition temperature and refine the grain, therefore, improve the impact toughness.
