ASTM A276 316L Round Bars can clearly say that rebar is one of the core components of any manufacturing industry or any industry that relies on machinery. Widely used in automotive, textile, manufacturing, construction, cement, shipbuilding, paper and pulp, defense, heavy earthmoving equipment or aerospace. 316 stainless steel has more carbon than 316L stainless steel. The L stands for “low”, so it’s easy to remember.
The 316L, on the other hand, is nearly identical to the 316 in almost every way, albeit with a lower carbon content. Both are strong, corrosion-resistant, suitable choices for high-stress applications, and cost about the same. 316L round bars are made from a low carbon version of 316 grade stainless steel alloy. Its maximum carbon content is only 0.03%, compared to 0.08% for 316-grade ss. 316L ss round bar has better corrosion resistance and is more suitable for high temperature applications. It also has better resistance to intergranular corrosion.
Stainless Steel 316L round bar is a higher corrosion resistance than Types 302 and 304 with high creep strength. It has improved high temperature strength over 304 and shows excellent resistance to pitting. Grade 316 is non-magnetic in the annealed condition.
Stainless Steel 316L round bar is an extra-low-carbon modification of Type 316. It has low sensitization properties. Type 316 applications are typically those that require extensive welding.
Stainless Steel 316L round bar has excellent forming and welding characteristics. The balanced austenitic structure of Grade 316l enables it to be severely deep drawn without intermediate annealing, which has made this grade dominant in the manufacture of drawn stainless parts such as sinks, hollow-ware and saucepans. For these applications it is common to use special “316lDDQ” (Deep Drawing Quality) variants.
