Alloy 800 is a nickel-iron-chromium alloy with high strength and excellent resistance to oxidation and corrosion at high temperatures. ASTM B407 UNS N08800 Incoloy 800 W. Nr. 1.4876 Welded Pipe is widely used for construction of equipment requiring corrosion resistance, heat resistance, strength, and stability for service up to 1500°F (816°C).

Alloy 800 Pipe offers general corrosion resistance to many aqueous media and, by virtue of its content of nickel, resists stress corrosion cracking. At elevated temperatures Incoloy 800 Pipe offers resistance to oxidation, carburization, and sulfidation along with rupture and creep strength. For applications requiring greater resistance to stress rupture and creep, especially at temperatures above 1500°F (816°C), Incoloy alloys 800H and 800HT are used.

Production:

Alloy 800 Seamless Pipe is produced using various techniques such as hot-finished, cold-worked, and annealed. The manufacturing process typically involves melting the alloy in a furnace and then forming it into a pipe shape using various techniques such as extrusion or rolling. The Inconel 800 Pipe is then subjected to further processing, including heat treatment, machining, and testing.

Seamless pipe:

ASME SB 407 UNS N08800 SMLS Pipe is made by piercing a solid billet of Alloy 800 alloy to form a hollow tube. Seamless pipe has no welded joints, which provides better corrosion resistance and reduces the risk of leaks. Seamless pipe is preferred in applications that require high-pressure or high-temperature conditions, as it can withstand greater stresses without deformation.

Welded pipe:

Alloy 800 Welded pipe is made by joining two or more pieces of Alloy 800 alloy using a welding process such as TIG (tungsten inert gas) or MIG (metal inert gas). Welded pipe is preferred in applications that do not require high-pressure or high-temperature conditions. Werkstoff Number 1.4876 Pipe is also a cost-effective alternative to seamless pipe.
