Duplex Stainless Steel S31083 S32205 Flanges tend to offer similar resistance to corrosion as austenitic counterparts

These grades are excellent for fixed service simple flange connections, but slightly less so when forming a complex metallic shape. Fortunately, the workability of duplex into complex and rounded structures is less of an issue in structural steel given the wide preference for simple mild steel in non corrosive applications.

Pipe flanges are manufactured in a variety of different materials. The material of a flange is usually set by the choice of the pipe meaning that the flange matches the material of the pipe, whether that is Duplex, Super Duplex, Stainless Steel, Nickel Alloy or 6% Moly. Duplex 2205, UNS S32205, is a stainless steel material, whose ¡°Duplex¡± name is derived from the mixed microstructure which contains roughly equal portions of ferrite and austenite. ASTM A182 F51/ UNS S31803 is classified as standard duplex stainless steel while ASTM A182 F53/ UNS S32750 & ASTM A182 F55/ UNS S32760 are classified as super duplex grades.
