Duplex Stainless Steel S31083 S32205 Flanges with good pitting and crevice corrosion resistance

Though it is important to keep in mind that pitting corrosion can be a concern in chloride solutions when oxidizing media is present. In these conditions, the passive (protective) layer of the Duplex 2205 material may be compromised in localized pitting may occur.

The Alloy 2205 Slip on Flange is a common flange in the industry as they are slid on the pipe and welded using one or more fillet welds. SCC could be a problem under certain circumstances like humidity & elevated temperature or environments containing certain chemicals such as chlorides, for standard austenitic stainless steel grades such as Types 304 and 316. Chromium is a ferrite former, meaning it promotes the BCC structure of iron. It also increases the oxidation resistance at elevated temperatures. Higher chromium also promotes the formation of intermetallic phases, which are detrimental to the duplex stainless steel and shall be addressed.
