Duplex stainless steel S31803/S32205/2205 flanges are supplied with good sulfide stress corrosion resistance, high strength and excellent impact toughness. These dual phase steel S31803 slip flanges are chemically balanced to produce a microstructure of approximately 50/50 ferrite to austenite ratio.

Super Duplex Flanges are highly weldable. This alloy can be easily welded by various welding operations. These super duplex flanges are known for their high fatigue strength and provide high strength at moderate temperatures in the lower temperature range.

The oxidation resistance of these dual phase steel S31803 butt weld flanges is good at high temperatures, but tends to become brittle at temperatures above 300 degrees Celsius, brittle after only 2 hours of exposure at 475 degrees Celsius. These dual phase steel S32205 ring joint flanges also feature high corrosion and erosion fatigue performance as well as lower thermal expansion and higher thermal conductivity than certified.

It also has excellent resistance to chloride stress corrosion cracking, low coefficient of thermal expansion and high thermal conductivity. Due to the low carbon content in the flange, there is minimal risk of carbide precipitation at grain boundaries during heat treatment.

2205 flanges are highly resistant to pitting and crevice corrosion, perform well in most corrosive environments, and have good weldability. Duplex 2205 is a nitrogen enhanced duplex stainless steel designed to solve common corrosion problems encountered with 300 series stainless steels. “Duplex” describes a family of stainless steels that are neither fully austenitic (such as 304 stainless steel) nor purely ferritic (such as 430 stainless steel). The structure of 2205 duplex stainless steel consists of a pool of austenite surrounded by a continuous ferrite phase. In the annealed condition, 2205 contains approximately 40-50% ferrite. 2205 is often referred to as the workhorse grade and is the most widely used grade in the duplex stainless steel family.

The advantage of the dual-phase structure is that it combines the advantages of ferritic alloys (resistance to stress corrosion cracking and high strength) with the advantages of austenitic alloys (ease of manufacture and corrosion resistance). The service temperature of 2205 duplex stainless steel should be limited to below 600¡ãF. Prolonged exposure to high temperatures can make 2205 stainless steel brittle.

For many applications where 300 series stainless steel is susceptible to chloride stress corrosion cracking, 2205 duplex stainless steel is a cost-effective solution. Stress corrosion cracking occurs when stainless steel is subjected to tensile stress while in contact with solutions containing chlorides. Elevated temperatures also increase the susceptibility of stainless steel to stress corrosion cracking.

The combination of chromium, molybdenum and nitrogen gives 2205 good resistance to chloride pitting and crevice corrosion. This resistance is extremely important for services such as marine environments, brackish water, bleaching operations, closed loop water systems and some food processing applications. The high chromium, molybdenum and nitrogen content of 2205 provides better corrosion resistance than common stainless steels such as 316L and 317L in most environments, and Citizen Metals has been actively involved in ensuring the best possible quality for our customers.

This exotic alloy is used in oil and gas exploration and is also used in the chemical processing industry. Most processing equipment uses Duplex 2205. Also used by industrial storage and transportation units. Pulp and paper digesters, liquid tanks and paper machines also use Duplex 2205. It is ideal for use in marine environments.

Duplex 2205 is characterized by high resistance to chloride stress corrosion cracking, chloride pitting and crevice corrosion resistance, good general corrosion resistance, good sulfide stress corrosion resistance, high strength and good weldability and workability.

Duplex flanges consist of a material type called duplex. The material has both ferritic and austenitic microstructures in metallurgy. There are different grades of duplex depending on the material composition. Duplex stainless steel flanges have the best ferritic and austenitic properties. They are used as replacements for expensive high alloys in many industrial applications.

Duplex 2205 and Super Duplex 2507 stainless steel butt weld flanges feature a high yield strength that is twice the annealed yield strength of typical austenitic stainless steels such as 304 and 316 stainless steel butt weld flanges. Because of this, Duplex 2205 and Super Duplex 2507 steels are some of the most common duplex grades used for butt weld flanges, with Super Duplex 2507 butt weld flange being the more corrosion resistant grade of the two.

ASME B16.5 Duplex Steel Forged Flanges are available in sizes from 1/8″ to 24″. Depending on the size, flanges are available in different pressure classes. Class 150 Duplex Pipe Flanges are the lowest pressure class up to 2500.

Super Duplex 2507 Butt Weld Flanges have improved corrosion resistance, making themselves suitable for applications prone to stress corrosion cracking, crevice corrosion, pitting, erosion and general corrosion. Due to the characteristics of duplex and super duplex stainless steel butt weld flanges, they are often used in chemical processing, petrochemical, power industry and seawater equipment.

Duplex steel Werkstoff No 1.4462 threaded flanges also cannot be used below -50¡ãC as it will cause a ductile to brittle transition. Duplex UNS S32205 Orifice Flange has a tensile strength of 1,16,000 psi 800 MPa. Whereas the duplex SAF 2205 socket weld flange has a yield strength of 80,000 psi 550 MPa. The 2205 Duplex Butt Weld Flange is a low carbon version that is not affected by sensitization and avoids carbide precipitation in welding applications.

Use of duplex and super duplex stainless steels should be limited to below 570¡ãF, as prolonged exposure to high temperatures can make the material brittle.

Duplex 2205, UNS S32205, is a stainless steel material that derives its “duplex” name from a mixed microstructure containing roughly equal portions of ferrite and austenite. This grade is the most popular variety, and this two-phase material is a significant upgrade over 316 stainless steel in terms of yield strength and corrosion resistance.

Compared to similar ferritic and austenitic grades, the super duplex steel 1.4410 flange has a lower alloying cost and, due to the well improved yield and tensile strength, has Corrosion resistance.

Super Duplex 2507, UNS S32750, is a duplex stainless steel especially suitable for environments such as warm chlorinated seawater and acidic chlorinated media. It has similar properties to Duplex 2205 but is more corrosion resistant and performs well in moderately corrosive environments.

Double butt weld flanges are best suited for hazardous high pressure applications. Butt weld flanges are easily identified by their long tapered neck.

The flanges are internally drilled to match the inside diameter of the pipe to ensure unrestricted flow and prevent turbulence at the joint. The tapered neck provides thicker metal at the flange joint, while the neck tapers to butt against the pipe and to butt against the pipe. This design helps transfer stress from the flange to the pipe and reduces stress concentrations at the bottom of the flange connection.

Duplex and Super Duplex Welding Flanges are ideal for critical applications involving high pressure, sub-zero and high temperature, as well as conditions where fluctuations cause expansion/contraction of the pipeline, and its main feature is that it is suitable for high pressure applications.

Butt weld flanges are the most popular type of high pressure pipeline flange. The tapered hub design of butt weld flanges provides an extremely strong connection, and butt weld flanges can be manipulated and bent repeatedly without compromising material and/or connection quality .
