c276 is highly resistant to most chemicals and corrosive environments. The anti-corrosion and anti-oxidative properties come from the composition of chromium and molybdenum.

Hastelloy C-22 can be used in conjunction with Hastelloy C-276 to prevent joint corrosion. Its composition is nickel-chromium-molybdenum-tungsten, giving it some of the resistance that is characteristic of C-276. The metal is excellent against overall and localized corrosion, along with chemical, oxidation, and reducing environments. Tests in environments containing wet chlorine and nitric acid have also proved that Hastelloy C-22 shows exceptional resistance. However, one unique characteristic is its weldability, which allows the metal to be used as a filler in many cases where other metals have failed to stop corrosion. These characteristics make Hastelloy C-22 commonly applied in chemical productions for food and beverages and pharmaceutical tools.

HASTELLOY B-3 alloy (UNS N10675) is an excellent resistance alloy to hydrochloric acid at all concentrations and temperatures. It also withstands sulfuric, acetic, formic and phosphoric acids, and other nonoxidizing media. B-3 alloy has a special chemistry designed to achieve a level of thermal stability greatly superior to that of its predecessors, e.g. HASTELLOY B-2 alloy. B-3 alloy has excellent resistance to pitting corrosion, to stress-corrosion cracking and to knife-line and heat-affected zone attack.

Hastelloy c276 thermoforming should be done in a temperature range between 1600¡ãF and 2250¡ãF (870¡ãC and 1230¡ãC), with the heavier parts heated to a minimum temperature of 2000¡ãF prior to forming. It is recommended to anneal the material after machining and should be done at a temperature between 2050¡ãF and 2150¡ãF, followed by a rapid quench in a protective atmosphere or a stirred reduction quench bath. To obtain a reducing quench bath, add 2% (by volume) ethanol or propanol to water.
