Hastelloy Nickel Alloy B2 is a very chemically resistant alloy with high resistance to pitting and stress corrosion cracking in the heat affected zone. This nickel-molybdenum alloy is typically used under extreme reducing conditions and has a much lower composition of carbon, silicon and iron than Hastelloy B (Alloy B). Hastelloy B2 resists the formation of grain boundary carbide precipitates in the weld heat-affected zone, making it suitable for most chemical process applications in the as-welded condition. Due to its high chromium and molybdenum content, it is resistant to oxidizing and non-oxidizing acids and exhibits excellent resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion in the presence of chlorides and other halides.
