The premium composition of molybdenum and nickel content of c276 is used to make nickel steel alloys. It helps resist crevice and pitting corrosion in reducing environments. Chromium, on the other hand, is used to impart resistance to oxidizing media.

This nickel-molybdenum alloy is typically used under extreme reducing conditions and has a much lower composition of carbon, silicon and iron than Hastelloy B (Alloy B). Screws made from this alloy are also known as UNS N10665 fasteners.

Hastelloy C276 flanges are made of a nickel-chromium-molybdenum alloy called Hastelloy. Hastelloy C276 flanges have a high melting point of 1370 degrees Celsius.

Another difference between Astm B626 Nickel Alloy C276 Welded Pipe and Alloy C is that Alloy C276 pipe has better machinability.

Hastelloy B2 is a nickel-molybdenum alloy with significant resistance to reducing environments such as hydrogen chloride gas and sulfuric, acetic and phosphoric acids. Hastelloy B2 is resistant to pure sulfuric acid and many non-oxidizing acids. This alloy should not be used in the presence of oxidative contaminants in oxidizing or reducing media. Premature failure may occur if Alloy B2 is used in the presence of iron or copper in systems containing hydrochloric acid.

Although Alloy C276 plate has a higher rate of work hardening compared to its austenitic counterpart, in-process annealing may be required if nickel alloy C276 plate is to be work hardened to a higher degree. Solution annealing may be required if the deformation of the nickel C276 strip exceeds 15%.

Hastelloy B3 pipe has good resistance to stress corrosion cracking that is chloride induced. The good resistance to a wider range of organic acids makes Hastelloy B2 pipes a popular product.

This alloy is exhibiting good corrosion resistance at aggressive reducing media like hydrochloric acid that range of concentrations and temperatures and in medium-concentrated sulphuric acid and with limited chloride contamination.

Thus these Hastelloy B2 Flanges are considered to be well suited to be used for most chemical process applications in an as-welded condition. Due to lower carbon content in the alloy, there is reduced precipitation of carbides as well as other phases in the heat-affected weld zones, which in turn ensures uniform resistance to corrosion in the flange.

HASTELLOY C-276 alloy has excellent resistance to a variety of chemical process environments, including strong oxidizing agents such as ferric and copper chlorides, hot fouling media (organic and inorganic), chlorine, formic and acetic acids, acetic anhydride, and Seawater and brine solutions. It can be used in flue gas desulfurization systems due to its excellent resistance to sulfur compounds and chloride ions in most scrubbers.
