The Corrosion Resistant HASTELLOY alloys are widely used by the chemical processing industries. The need for reliable performance leads to their acceptance and growth in the areas of energy, health and environmental, oil and gas, pharmaceutical and flue gas desulfurization industries.

Although HASTELLOY X is primarily known for its heat and oxidation resistance, it also has good resistance to chloride stress corrosion cracking and good carburization, as well as excellent resistance to reducing or carburizing atmospheres. Alloy X is one of the most widely used nickel-based superalloys for gas turbine engine components.

Like other nickel alloys, it is ductile, easy to form and weld, and possesses exceptional resistance to stress corrosion cracking in chloride-bearing solutions (a form of degradation to
which the austenitic stainless steels are prone). With its high chromium and molybdenum
contents, it is able to withstand both oxidizing and non-oxidizing acids, and is resistant to
pitting and crevice attack in the presence of chlorides and other halides.

Hastelloy C-276 also has excellent resistance to pitting corrosion, stress corrosion cracking and oxidizing atmospheres, as well as excellent resistance to many different chemical environments.

These have the advantage of nickel and molybdenum providing resistance against the most reducing environments. The oxidation resistance is also high in these materials due to the addition of the chromium content.
