Nickel Alloy 400 and Monel 400, also known as UNS N04400, is a ductile nickel-copper-based alloy consisting primarily of two-thirds nickel and one-third copper. Nickel Alloy 400 is known for its resistance to a variety of corrosive conditions, including alkalis (or acids), salt water, hydrofluoric acid, and sulfuric acid. Since Monel 400 or Alloy 400 is a cold worked metal, this alloy has high hardness, stiffness and strength. It is suitable for various concentrations of sulfuric acid below 70 ¡ãC, and has good corrosion resistance in acetic acid of any concentration and temperature under normal pressure, as well as in the mixed acid of formic acid and acetic acid.

It cannot be hardened by heat treatment;?however?the material will harden due to cold working.

The Curie temperature of this alloy lies within the ambient temperature range and is affected by changes in the alloy’s chemical composition. Caution is recommended in applications requiring strong non-magnetic properties.

Alloy C-276 prevents the formation of grain boundary precipitates in the weld heat affected zone, making it useful in most welding conditions for chemical processes.

Monel K500 is a precipitation-hardenable nickel-copper alloy that combines the excellent corrosion resistance characteristic of Monel 400 with the added advantage of greater strength and hardness.

ASTM A638 Grade 660 alloy is a precipitation hardening stainless steel suitable for high temperature applications. This grade is suitable for applications requiring good corrosion resistance and high strength at temperatures up to 700°C. It can be used for lower stress applications at higher temperatures.

Offering the industry an improved stainless steel corrosion solution, Duplex 2205 Bolts have good sulfide corrosion resistance, as well as chloride pitting and crevice corrosion superior to 317L. Inconel X750 is a nickel-chromium alloy that has been used for both wrought products and castings. Inconel X750 offers excellent resistance to corrosion and oxidation along with high strength and good toughness properties at elevated temperatures.

Stainless steel is an iron alloy containing at least 10.5% chromium. Chromium produces a thin layer of oxide on the surface of the steel, called a “passivation layer”.

For 304 stainless steel tube heat resistance, it has good oxidation resistance in intermittent use at 8700C and continuous use at 9250C. Continuous use of 304 in the 425-8600C range is not recommended if subsequent water corrosion resistance is important. Grade 304L is more resistant to carbide precipitation and can be heated to the above temperature range.
