Most iron-based metals react with water to produce the reddish iron oxide known better as rust. The oxygen atoms in the water pulls iron off of the base metal to form the porous rust structure with no real strength.

Nickel-containing stainless steels are easy to form and weld; they remain ductile at very low temperatures and yet can be used for high-temperature applications. In addition, unlike conventional steel and non-nickel-containing stainless steel, they are non-magnetic.

This grade can be weld easily and machinability of this grade is good. For better corrosion resistance, 316 or 316L could be a good alternative and for better machinability 303 grade can be a good alternative.
