The 800 series alloys were developed in the 1950s. At the time, nickel was in high demand for defense. To create heat and corrosion resistant materials with lower nickel content for commercial use, the 800 series alloys are made. Incoloy 800 has 2 notable changes. Alloy 800H (UNS N08810) limits the carbon content to the higher end of the acceptable range for Incoloy 800. Alloy 800 HT (UNS N08811) limits the carbon, aluminium and titanium content all to the high end. The advantages of confined chemistry result in higher creep strength and stress rupture performance.

Incoloy 800 bolts are best suited for applications that require stable construction and good strength over prolonged exposure to high temperatures. All of this is the same except for the higher carbon content in the 800H alloy and the addition of about 1.20% aluminum and titanium to the 800HT. The increased hardness at freezing temperatures has been shown to only slightly impair the ductility or impact resistance of Monel 400 bolts. Even when cooled to the temperature of liquid hydrogen, Monel 400 will not undergo the ductile to brittle transition that can lead to fracture. This is especially unique compared to most ferrous materials, which are generally stronger but very brittle at extreme low temperatures.

Hastelloy Nickel Alloy B2 is a very chemically resistant alloy with high resistance to pitting and stress corrosion cracking in the heat affected zone. In particular, this alloy performs well in harsh environments such as sulfuric acid, hydrogen chloride and phosphoric acid. This nickel-molybdenum alloy is typically used under extreme reducing conditions and has a much lower composition of carbon, silicon and iron than Hastelloy B (Alloy B). Screws made from this alloy are also known as UNS N10665 fasteners.
