Unique among Monel alloys, Monel 400 is a “puritan alloy”. It contains nickel and copper levels comparable to natural nickel ore found in the Sudbury mine in Ontario, Canada. Alloy 400 is a ductile nickel-copper alloy that is resistant to a variety of corrosive environments. This grade is typically chosen to handle 80% sulphuric acid at room temperature, with a boiling point of about 15% H2SO2. Alloy 400 has useful resistance to aerated hydrochloric acid at concentrations up to 10% at room temperature. It is also suitable for all cold working methods. The amount of force and work hardening required is between mild steel and Type 304 stainless steel. Various diameters, wall thicknesses and sizes are available to our customers. It can be machined at good speed with machine tools commonly used in the industry. It is always added by standard procedure.
