nickel alloy Inconel 718 N07718 heat pipes with flanges
INCONEL 718 alloy was primarily chosen by design engineers for its high strength in extreme temperature conditions at both ends of the spectrum. It can be used from low temperatures all the way up to 1300¡ãF/704¡ãC. It exhibits extremely high yield, tensile and creep rupture properties across the entire range. It also exhibits excellent tensile and impact strength.
One of the distinguishing features of the Inconel 718 composition is the addition of niobium to allow age hardening, allowing annealing and welding without spontaneous hardening during heating and cooling.
With a melting point of 2300¡ãc and impressive tensile strength, Inconel 718 is well suited for the various industrial applications it is involved in, such as fasteners, high strength bolts and nuclear fuel element gaskets, to name a few. This is further aided by the alloy’s excellent properties in properties such as weldability and creep rupture.
