Monel K500, UNS N05500 (QQ-N-286), is a precipitation-hardenable nickel-copper alloy that combines the corrosion resistance of Monel alloy 400 with greater strength (over 2x as strong) and hardness. It also has low permeability and is nonmagnetic to temperatures as low as -150¡ãF (-101¡ãC).

Monel 400 is resistant to steam and sea water as well as highly corrosive solutions such as sulfuric, hydrochloric and hydrofluoric acids after degassing. It has excellent solderability and can withstand very high pressure and weight. The alloy has excellent mechanical properties at sub-zero temperatures, with a melting point of 2370¡ã – 2460¡ã F, and the product can be used at temperatures up to 1000¡ã C.

INCOLOY 800/800H/800HT is a family of high nickel superalloys commonly used in the petrochemical processing industry. INCOLOY 800HT is similar to INCOLOY 800/800H, but with improved creep rupture strength. All of these alloys have high corrosion resistance. At higher temperatures, Incoloy 800 fasteners provide resistance to vulcanization, carburization and oxidation, as well as fracture and creep strength. Incoloy 800 bolts are a solid solution austenitic alloy. Appearing in the microstructure of Incoloy 800 are chromium carbide, titanium carbide and titanium nitride. Alloy 400 fasteners have a melting point of 1350 degrees Celsius. The density of the material is higher than most chrome-nickel stainless steels. The density of Monel 400 material is 8.8 grams per cubic centimeter. The strength also exceeds that of the 304, 316 and 310 grades of austenitic stainless steels. The minimum yield strength is 240MPa and the minimum tensile strength is 550MPa. UNS N04400 Studs are made from a single strand of Monel 400 material.

The chemical composition of Monel K500 ASTM is approximately 65% nickel, 30% copper and 3% aluminum. Monel 500 exhibits excellent corrosion resistance with added high strength corrosion fatigue and erosion resistance. Monel K500 fasteners are non-magnetic at high and low temperatures. The material has the same corrosion resistance as Monel Class 400.
