Another advantage of grade 304 stainless steel bar over grade 303 is that it is slightly harder and has better corrosion resistance. ASTM A815 specification covers two general classes, WP and CR, of wrought ferritic, ferritic/austenitic, and martensitic stainless steel fittings of seamless and welded construction. Duplex 2205 stainless steels are called “duplex” because they have a two-phase microstructure consisting of ferritic and austenitic stainless steel grains. When duplex stainless steel melts, it solidifies from the liquid phase to a fully ferritic structure. As the material cools to room temperature, about half of the ferrite grains transform into austenite grains (“islands”). The result is a microstructure of approximately 50% austenite and 50% ferrite.

2507 is used for Chemical process industries, heat exchangers, vessels, and piping, desalination plants, high pressure RO-plant and seawater piping, mechanical and structural components, high strength, corrosion-resistant parts.

Duplex 2205 flanges combine the qualities of stress corrosion cracking resistance and high strength derived from being a ferritic alloy along with its austenitic fabrication capabilities.

Duplex alloys have some of the ferritic stress corrosion cracking resistance of common austenitic stainless alloys and many of the superior formability properties that are more cost effective than high nickel alloys.

Alloy 2205 duplex stainless steel is an alloy developed from the initial Super Duplex Stainless Steel. It is supplied in the solution annealed condition.

Duplex 2205 stainless steel round bars (ASTM A276/ ASTM A479) exhibit good heat resistance up to 300¡ã. SS Rod can be easily welded by most standard methods, the only mandatory requirement is the use of filler metal. Due to its high strength, machinability is low.

Super Duplex S32760 Bar proves to be an excellent replacement for austenitic grades in marine environments. Super Duplex S32760 round bar (ASTM A276/ ASTM A479) exhibits good heat resistance up to 300¡ã.

2507 Duplex Plate also exhibit better ductility and toughness compared to ferritic stainless steels, but they do not provide these properties as successfully as austenitic stainless steels.

The chemical composition specifications stated in the norm must be met by the steel Super Duplex Plate. The content, in this case Thick Duplex Alloy 2507 Cold Rolled Sheet, must also meet the required mechanical properties.

Super Duplex UNS S32760 is one of the most common super duplex grades on the market. UNS S32760 is a duplex stainless steel designed for use in corrosive chlorine-containing environments, with the addition of W and Cu compared to UNS S32750.

ASTM A479 Duplex Stainless Steel 1.4462 Punched Gaskets are SCC resistant which is prominent in many applications such as hot water tanks, brewing tanks, desalination plants and processing plants. Therefore, ASTM A479 Duplex Stainless Steel UNS S31803 Lock Washers exhibit the properties of ferritic and austenitic alloys.

This heat treatment performed on the Duplex 2205 Pipe must be keeping with accordance to the specified temperature and quench conditions.

These grades of super duplex stainless steel fasteners are used when applications require excellent corrosion resistance and strength. Composed of nitrogen, molybdenum and chromium, they have excellent resistance to crevice corrosion and chloride pitting.

The origin of Duplex steels can be traced back to the 1920s, with the first cast being made in Sweden in 1930. However, the popularity of using duplex only started to rise around 30 years ago when steelmaking technology became more advanced. The flange is second most used joining method after selding. Flanges are used when joints need dismantling. It provides flexibility for maintenance. Flange connects the pipe with various equipment and valves. Breakup flanges are added in the pipeline system if regular maintenance in required during plant operation.
A flanged joint is composed of three separate and independent although interrdlated components; the flanges, the gaskets, and the bolting; which are assembled by yet another influence, the fitter. Special controls are required in the selection and application of all there elements to attain a joint, which has acceptable leak tightness.
A flange is a protruded ridge, lip or rim, either external or internal, that serves to increase strength (as the flange of an iron beam such as an I-beam or a T-beam); for easy attachment/transfer of contact force with another object (as the flange on the end of a pipe, steam cylinder, etc., or on the lens mount of a camera); or for stabilizing and guiding the movements of a machine or its parts (as the inside flange of a rail car or tram wheel, which keep the wheels from running off the rails). Widely used in oil and gas, hydropower, pressure vessels, pulp and paper, structural parts and chemical tankers.

Duplex steels have the best resistance to pitting corrosion. This steel has effective fatigue strength to resist corrosion of the steel. The steel can be used in a wide range of heating temperatures in the industry.
