Nickel Alloy 400 and Monel 400, also known as UNS N04400, is a ductile nickel-copper-based alloy consisting primarily of two-thirds nickel and one-third copper. Copper Nickel can be bent without special tools. Pure copper is not as strong as other alloyed metals. Therefore, copper-nickel alloy pipes include materials such as iron and manganese for added strength.

Increased temperatures have prompted many of our customers to use superalloy Inconel 718 forged rings. Since Inconel uses nickel as its primary alloying agent, the use of Inconel 718 fasteners at elevated temperatures has no negative effect on the application or the equipment being used.

Stress-relieving is performed after cold working to reduce residual stress and prevent distortion. Annealing is performed at 1700¡ãF – 1900¡ãF (927¡ãC – 1038¡ãC) to restore full softness.

Monel K500 Fasteners are thermally applied or manipulated to affect precipitation. This process is called age hardening. These fasteners have a greater tendency to stress corrosion cracking in a variety of harsh environments when exposed to the age hardening process. It has three times the yield strength compared to the standard version. Monel 500 material is an age-hardenable nickel-copper alloy that combines the corrosion resistance of Alloy 400 with the high strength corrosion fatigue and erosion resistance.

AL-6XN is widely used because it is a 6% moly superaustenitic alloy providing strong resistance to chlorides found in ketchup, barbecue sauce, sports drinks, buffer solutions, and active pharmaceutical ingredients that commonly cause localized corrosion.

SS 254 SMO washer is a high-alloy austenitic stainless steel developed for use in seawater and other aggressive chlorine-containing media. ASTM A312 Stainless Steel 254 SMO washer is a very high end austenitic alloy designed for maximum resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion. 254SMo contains high levels of chromium, molybdenum and nitrogen, making it particularly suitable for high chlorine environments such as brackish water, seawater, pulp mill bleaching plants and other high chlorine process streams.
