Alloy 400 is a single phase solid solution nickel copper alloy with excellent resistance to many corrosive environments in the temperature range from subzero to 800¡ãF. This alloy can only be hardened by cold work, not heat treatment. The alloy can be welded, brazed or soldered. Gas welding or electric welding methods can be used. When gas welding, the flame must be turned off to neutral (on the reducing side) and the job must be done quickly without re-welding. The material is also suitable for high temperature environments up to 1000¡ãF.
