Stainless steel grade 254 SMO plate
The 6Mo super austenitic steel combines moderate tensile strength and high ductility with excellent corrosion resistance in seawater and variety of industrial environment.
254 SMO stainless steel plate is a super austenitic stainless steel with high content of molybdenum and nitrogen. Compared with traditional austenitic stainless steel such as 316L, SS 254 SMO plate has high resistance to pitting corrosion, high strength and crevice corrosion. Twice as strong as the 300 stainless steel series. 6mo UNS S31254 is a high alloy austenitic stainless steel that is resistant to corrosion, crevice corrosion, pitting and very high tensile strength in high chloride ion conditions. ASTM A240 UNS S31254 plate was developed for use in seawater and other corrosive environments containing chlorides such as brackish water, seawater, pulp mill bleaching plants and other chloride process streams.
For some applications, EN 1.4547 stainless steel is a cost-effective alternative to high nickel and titanium alloys. ASME SA240 UNS S31254 is a super austenitic steel, compared with other common austenitic steel, F44 stainless steel plate has higher yield and tensile strength. Also has good weldability, low magnetic permeability, high ductility and good impact strength.
