The high strength and corrosion resistance of the AL6XN alloy make it a better choice than the conventional duplex stainless steels and a cost effective alternative to more expensive nickel-base alloys where excellent formability, weldability, strength and corrosion resistance are essential.
AL-6XN Stainless Steel Flange contain a minimum of 6% molybdenum content and it is this addition of molybdenum that provides the greatest protection against pitting and crevice corrosion. It is also successful with fine chemical, cosmetic and pharmaceutical (cosmeceutical), bulk pharmaceutical, brewery, desalination, semi-conductor, aerospace, biopharm, pulp and paper, and gas handling applications. In order to help combat chi phase formation, nitrogen was added to the AL-6XN alloy to minimize this formation improving corrosion resistance and increasing strength over a broad range of temperatures, while maintaining the good formability of austenitic stainless steel. Al-6xn Flanges have good corrosion resistance to sea water and moderate acids. It is stronger than stainless steel flanges and can handle higher temperatures than the stainless steel flanges. The Al6xn Pipe Flange is made up of a material that has iron, 23% nickel, 20% chromium, 6% molybdenum, manganese, silicon, copper, nitrogen, phosphorus, carbon and sulfur in the composition.
