Nimonic 80 a (Alloy 80A) is one of the most popular superalloys specified for gas turbines. Nimonic 80A fasteners are often specified because of their ability to withstand very high temperatures.

Nimonic 80A is a precipitation hardenable nickel-chromium alloy. It has been largely replaced by Nimonic 90 and Inconel X-750, but it is still specified for nuclear applications due to its low cobalt content.

Alloy 80A has good corrosion and oxidation resistance and high tensile and creep rupture properties at temperatures up to 815oC (1500oF).
