Both 316 and 316L stainless steel alloys are marine steels, but they do have some key differences. The composition of 316L has a lower proportion of carbon. Manufacturing 310/310S stainless steel pipe is forged in the temperature range of 975 – 1175¡ãC. The heavy lifting takes place at 1050¡ãC, and a lightweight finish is applied to the bottom of the range. Annealing after forging is recommended to remove all stress during forging. Stainless Steel 310/310S is an austenitic heat resistant alloy with excellent oxidation resistance under mild cycling conditions up to 2000¡ãF.
