Super Duplex stainless steel offers the same advantages as its Duplex counterpart. The main difference between the two is that Super Duplex has a higher chromium and molybdenum content, resulting in increased corrosion resistance. In the annealed condition, these alloys have more than twice the strength of conventional austenitic stainless steels and superior corrosion resistance in many environments. Duplex S31803, also known as stainless steel grade 2205, is a standardized formulation that conforms to UNS specification regulations. The difference between the two is the contents of chromium and nitrogen are higher in the Super Duplex Grade which in turn creates higher corrosion resistance as well as a longer lifespan.
