Alloy 2205 duplex stainless steel plate is an alloy duplex stainless steel plate containing 22% chromium, 3% molybdenum, and 5-6% nickel nitrogen.

These are said to be specifications for alloy flanges for high pressure and service. The 3% carbon content of these flanges provides a lot of room for improved weldability, which also increases their overall strength.

To achieve some of these improved properties, the metal may require heat treatment.

However, if the carbon content is reduced to 1% to 3%, this alloy metal can achieve higher formability and weldability, thereby increasing strength.

The duplex material contains bot the austenitic and ferrite structures in the metallurgy of the material. These properties bring the material the best of both ferritic and austenitic steel types.
