The Corrosion Resistant HASTELLOY alloys are widely used by the chemical processing industries. The need for reliable performance leads to their acceptance and growth in the areas of energy, health and environmental, oil and gas, pharmaceutical and flue gas desulfurization industries.

It is able to withstand a wide range of oxidizing and non-oxidizing chemicals, and exhibits outstanding resistance to pitting and crevice attack in the presence of chlorides and other halides.

Hastelloy C2000 is available in a variety of sizes and thicknesses, this type of nickel-chromium-molybdenum alloy is renowned for its superior strength and corrosion resistance.

It demonstrates good resistance to neutral and reducing environments. This alloy creates a tenacious oxide, protective film that does not spall off, but it retains superior oxidation resistance at soaring temperatures.

This provides greatly enhanced resistance to sulfuric acid. It also has a high chromium content, to maximize its resistance to oxidizing chemicals and process streams contaminated with ferric ions and dissolved oxygen.

Hastelloy C2000 Tubes are used in a broad range of industries including petrochemical processing, chemical processing equipment manufacturing, oil refineries and power plants.

These have the advantage of nickel and molybdenum providing resistance against the most reducing environments. The oxidation resistance is also high in these materials due to the addition of the chromium content.

HASTELLOY C-276 is a nickel-chromium-molybdenum alloy with universal corrosion resistance unmatched by any other alloy. It has outstanding resistance to a wide variety of chemical process environments including ferric and cupric chlorides, hot contaminated mineral acids, solvents, chlorine and chlorine contaminated (both organic and inorganic), dry chlorine, formic and acetic acids, acetic anhydride, sea water and brine solutions and hypochlorite and chlorine dioxide solutions. Alloy C276 also resists formation of grain boundary precipitates in the weld heat affected zone making it useful for most chemical processes in the as-welded condition. It has excellent resistance to pitting and stress corrosion cracking.

These Hastelloy Alloy C276 Forgings is used for dissimilar welding applications including other nickel ¨C chromium ¨C molybdenum alloys and stainless steels, and for weld overlay or cladding of steels. The alloy is used in flue gas desulfurization systems. It has excellent resistance to pitting and stress corrosion cracking, and resists wet chlorine gas, hypochlorite and chlorine dioxide. The alloy is also resistant to seawater and brine solutions.

Hastelloy X Bolts have been widely used in combustion zone components of turbine engines such as transition ducts, combustion chambers, booms and flame holders, as well as afterburners, exhaust pipes and cabin heaters. This alloy is recommended for industrial furnace applications due to its unusual resistance to oxidation, reduction and neutral atmosphere.

Hastelloy C276 is known for its excellent corrosion resistance in a variety of corrosive media. Hastelloy C276 alloy is a nickel-molybdenum-chromium wrought alloy that is considered a “multifunctional corrosion-resistant alloy”. Hastelloy C276 alloy has excellent corrosion resistance to both oxidizing and reducing media and excellent resistance to localized corrosion attack. The material also contains cobalt, tungsten, iron, silicon, manganese, carbon and vanadium in its composition. Due to this special combination, C276 Hastelloy bolts are also very resistant to pitting and crevice corrosion.

This nickel steel alloy also has excellent resistance to oxidizing aqueous media including wet chlorine and mixtures containing nitric acid or oxidizing acids with chlorine ions.

Thus these Hastelloy B2 Flanges are considered to be well suited to be used for most chemical process applications in an as-welded condition. Due to lower carbon content in the alloy, there is reduced precipitation of carbides as well as other phases in the heat-affected weld zones, which in turn ensures uniform resistance to corrosion in the flange.

In the case of Hastelloy-C276, the corrosion product was primarily a protective chromium oxide scale, although slightly thicker regions of the same oxide formed at the site of microcracks on the metal surface. Very little carburization was observed in this alloy before exposure for at least 1000 hours.

Hastelloy C276 is an extremely versatile material that has been used in a variety of harsh environments. It exhibits corrosion resistance to chloride-containing media, organic acids, oxidizing media, reducing acids, seawater and brine, and sulphur-containing flue gas. Hastelloy C276 replaces Alloy C (UNS N10002), which has slightly lower chromium and molybdenum contents. The high nickel, molybdenum and tungsten contents make them expensive compared to austenitic stainless steels. It is by far the most popular super alloy.

HASTELLOY C-4 alloy (UNS N06455) is the most (microstructurally) stable of the widely
used nickel-chromium-molybdenum materials, which are well known for their resistance
to many aggressive chemicals, in particular hydrochloric acid, sulfuric acid, and chlorides. This alloy resists the formation of grain-boundary precipitates in the weld heat-affected zone, thus making it suitable for most chemical process applications in the as-welded condition.

It is used in flue gas desulfurization systems because of its excellent resistance to sulfur compounds and chloride ions encounted in most scrubbers. C 276 alloy has excellent resistance to pitting and to stress corrosion cracking. It is also one of the few materials that withstands the corrosive effects of wet chlorine gas, hypochlorite, and chlorine dioxide.

Hastelloy G-30 is an improved version of nickel-chromium-iron-molybdenum-copper alloy G-3. With higher chromium, added cobalt and tungsten, the G-30 shows superior corrosion resistance over most other nickel and iron based alloys in commercial phosphoric acids as well as complex environments containing highly oxidizing acids. The resistance of the alloy to the formation of grain boundary precipitates in the heat-affected zone makes it suitable for use in most chemical process applications in the as-welded condition.

C276 is a solid solution strengthened nickel-molybdenum-chromium alloy with a small amount of tungsten that exhibits excellent corrosion resistance in a variety of harsh environments. Applications include, but are not limited to, stack liners, pipes, dampers, scrubbers, stack gas reheaters, heat exchangers, reaction vessels, and evaporators. Industries that can use C276 include petrochemical and chemical processing, power generation, pharmaceuticals, pulp and paper, and waste treatment, to name a few.

C22 has excellent resistance to oxidation, carburization, and sulfidation at elevated temperatures. However, C22 should not be used at temperatures above 1250¡ãF due to the possible formation of embrittling phases.
