ASTM A240 Type 2205 Plate is a duplex stainless steel plate that is used extensively in various industries such as chemical processing, oil and gas exploration, and marine engineering. Due to the alloy’s strong resistance to chemical compositions including acids, bases and neutral solutions, duplex steel uns s31803 nuts would be an ideal addition to these industries.

The standard duplex material consists of 22% chromium, 4.5% nickel, 3% molybdenum, manganese, silicon, nitrogen, phosphorus, carbon and sulfur. Duplex 2205 screws and other fasteners have minimum yield strengths up to 97ksi and minimum tensile strengths up to 131ksi. Duplex 2205 hex bolts are nearly twice as strong as austenitic grade steel bolts. They have higher mechanical properties, so 1.4462 alloy 2205 studs and other types of bolts can meet different specifications such as ASME SA 182, 240, 479, 789.

S31803 has been supplemented by S32205 which has a higher minimum N, CR and Mo.

In duplex steels, the duplex microstructure has the high strength of ferritic grades while retaining the corrosion resistance of austenitic grades. It is not uncommon to use this metal as a practical solution to chloride-induced stress cracking, the Achilles heel of stainless steel.

S32760 is a super duplex stainless steel with a ferritic-austenitic microstructure.

Duplex steel flange also offers Good weldability and workability, High energy absorption and Low thermal expansion.

The material is also resistant to chloride stress corrosion cracking, to erosion corrosion, to corrosion fatigue, to general corrosion in acids. This alloy has good weldability and very high mechanical strength.

The materials used to manufacture the fasteners are of top quality and standard, thus increasing the compatibility of the final product for adverse applications.

The yield strength of 2205 is about twice that of austenitic stainless steel. This allows designers to reduce weight and make the alloy more cost-competitive compared to 316L or 317L.
