These flanges are made up of a nickel, chromium, molybdenum alloy that has 50% nickel 14% chromium, 15% molybdenum and carbon, manganese, silicon, sulfur, cobalt, iron and phosphorus in the composition. There are different types such as the Hastelloy B2 Slip On Flanges , socket weld flanges, and welded neck flanges. These have 790MPa minimum tensile strength, 355MPa minimum yield strength and 40% elongation rate. The flanges also have 8.89 grams per cubic centimeter density and 1370 degrees melting point. The DIN 2.4617 Socket Weld Flanges and other flanges are used in high temperature, high corrosive and high stress applications due to the higher mechanical properties. The material is resistant to chlorides and acids so that the primary uses are in the acid processing, chemical, sea water and marine applications.
