Kommerziell reines (99,6 %) Knetnickel ist im Wesentlichen das gleiche wie Nickel 200, hat jedoch einen geringeren Kohlenstoffgehalt, um eine interkristalline Kohlenstoffversprödung bei Temperaturen über 600 °F (315 °C) zu verhindern. Der geringere Kohlenstoffgehalt verringert auch die Härte, wodurch sich Nickel 201 besonders für kaltgeformte Produkte eignet.
